Canadian Poker
When the European game of poker found its way across the Atlantic it experienced a revolution the type of which had not been seen before. Whilst the game spread across the USA like wildfire, it also found a comfortable niche north of the lakes and with it Canadian Poker and its rich history were born. In 1995 the Canadian Howard Goldfarb took runner up prize at the World Series of Poker; the biggest Texas Hold’em tournament in the world. Other poker players of Canadian origin with influential parts on the world poker stage include Mark Karam, Randy Holland, Doug Lee and Monica Reeves all of whom have obtained a level of success in American poker tournaments.
Of recent years, and of particular excitement, poker in Canada has taken a leap forward in its development by starting its very own Canadian Poker Tour featuring pot limit Omaha and various buy-in no limit Texas Hold’em tables, to name just a few. With buy-ins ranging from $10 - $1500, and prize-pools from $26,400 - $450,000, and the tour going all over the country, it really is an all Canadian Poker tour.
